What is Leaky Gut Syndrome?
Leaky Gut Syndrome, or intestinal hyperpermeability, occurs when the lining of the small intestine becomes excessively permeable (develops “holes”), and as such, leads to the crossover of toxins, pathogens, and undigested food particles into the bloodstream.
Why is LGS Important?
When foreign substances crossover, the immune system responds by creating inflammation. When the inflammation becomes chronic and systemic, this becomes a serious threat to health. In due course, the immune system begins attacking healthy cells in the body, not just the foreign substances, by creating autoantibodies against one’s own tissues. The result is autoimmune and other chronic health conditions.
Research has linked LGS to Alzheimer’s disease, autism, Crohn’s, diabetes, fibromyalgia, IBS, multiple sclerosis, and other autoimmune conditions.
What Contributes to a Leaky Gut?
Alcohol
Antibiotics
Caffeine
Chemical additives
Foods with antibiotic residues
Genetically modified organism (GMO) foods
Glyphosate (an herbicide) – contaminated foods
Pain medications
Pesticide-contaminated foods
Processed foods
Sugar and refined carbohydrates
Can You Test for Leaky Gut Syndrome?
The answer is, YES. Below are a few common tests used to indicate a Leaky Gut.
1. Zonulin or Lactulose Tests
Two liquids are drank (lactulose and mannitol) then examined for how they absorb in the body. If both liquid levels are raised in the body this indicates a Leaky Gut. If the mannitol reading is low, the body poorly absorbs small molecules.
This is one of the most common tests performed by medical professionals.
2. Food Intolerance Panel
A food intolerance panel demonstrates particles and toxins that crossover from the gut to the bloodstream.
When undigested particles and toxins enter the blood stream through permeable gut junctions, the body raises immune responses, doing what it can to help the body purge foreign material.
3. Stool Tests
Stool tests examine the composition of microorganisms in the gut that contribute to LGS, overall intestinal health and inflammation markers.
4. Adrenal Stress Index
Non-invasive test to evaluate the affect stress has on the body and its functions. The ASI includes 10 tests for 6 different hormones and immune markers that are present in stress related medical conditions.
5. Candida Saliva Test
First thing in the morning, before putting anything in the mouth or brushing teeth, spit into a glass of water, wait a few minutes and examine. If strings come down, the water becomes cloudy, or the salvia sinks to the bottom of the glass, you may have a candida infection. Healthy saliva will remain buoyant.
This test can be performed at-home and gives a firsthand illustration indicating the presence of a candida infection.
What Can You Do to Repair Your Leaky Gut?
1. ELIMINATE foods and elements that cause gut damage.
Ingesting material, including but not limited to – alcohol, sugar, simple carbohydrates, preservatives, GMOs, antibiotics and pain medications compromises the gut and allows pathogens to leak, creating unwarranted immune and inflammatory responses.
2. ALLEVIATE stress.
Chronic or uncontrolled stress damages gut integrity when normally harmless microbes become pathogenic after introduced to stress hormones.
3. REPAIR & PREVENT with bovine colostrum.
The growth factors in bovine colostrum has been clinically-proven to play a role in restoring gut status and regulating passage to the blood stream.
Colostrum-LD® from Sovereign Laboratories ensures the body is able to fully-absorb the bioactive components through a proprietary liposomal delivery system. Liposomal Delivery provides an all natural lipid-protection application surrounding the bioactives in colostrum, increasing bioavailability by up to 1500%

Why Isn’t Leaky Gut Common Knowledge?
LGS frequently goes undiagnosed because many physicians and specialists are unaware of the condition and the symptoms can be vague. It is suggested for individuals to understand the warning signs associated with LGS, learn all they can, and seek effective treatment.
