Liver Health
The liver has hundreds of functions in the body that effect energy, mental health and physical health. Supporting liver function is one of the most important aspects of having great health, especially in the toxic world in which we live. Helping the liver detox removes a great deal of burden on our bodies, allowing us a better chance to heal and feel great. Take the time to learn about this vital aspect of health. Learning about what to eat and what to avoid is always the first step. However, inexpensive and very effective supplements are extremely helpful.
Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) and N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC). ALA has the rare ability to exist in either water- or oil-based environments, which enables ALA to deliver its powerful anti-oxidant benefits virtually anywhere in the body. This universal solubility results in ALA being commonly referred to as the “Universal Anti-Oxidant” and allows it to be particularly effective in providing its anti-oxidant benefits to the cells of our nervous system and brain where its molecular structure permits it to cross the blood-brain barrier. It also protects the vital tissues and structures of the cardiovascular and immune systems, the liver, kidneys and lungs. ALA’s anti-oxidant capacity also helps to “recharge” and extend the life of other anti-oxidants in the body, such as Vitamins C and E, Coenzyme Q-10 and Glutathione. Unfortunately, the body makes and maintains very low concentrations of ALA and supplementation can become necessary as a result of the normal changes accompanying aging, stress, illness and even exercise. For additional protection against free radical damage, we include ALA’s related molecule, NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine), which is also a powerful anti-oxidant and an essential building block in the creation of Glutathione Peroxidase, perhaps the body’s most powerful anti-oxidant. The human body relies on its own extremely effective internal anti-oxidant systems for protection, and ALA and NAC offer both internal and external anti-oxidant support to combat the daily onslaught of damaging free radicals. No modern anti-oxidant regimen is complete without the addition of the Universal Anti-Oxidant (ALA) and NAC.
